That Science CV into a Resume for the Real World!

This week I have officially started working on my law school application packages. The first roadblock comes from the most unlikely of sources --- my chock–full-o’-science CV. I’ve been a science student all of my adult life. I majored in molecular biology in college, and am now on my way to getting a life sciences PhD. True, I always had some work experience side-by-side with full-time studies, but my work has always been tied to academic research. So my current resume pretty much reads: science, science, science. Grad school TA positions, publications, presentations, and conferences… all science related. Which, for sheer face value, are all great for finding postdoc positions. But submitting a science CV to non-science recruiters? More likely to land your resume in the garbage can than help you try to get off the bench.
